Samuel, an MBS employee and Social Club member, makes sure he gets the most out of his Flexi Choices. He and Tina, one of our Flexi Choices Coordinators, talk about some of the fun things the Social Club have been up to this year, as well as how activities can be tailored to suit exactly what he wants to do!

Samuel is part of the Mambourin Business Solutions (MBS) team working in Derrimut. He has been part of the Mambourin team for 11 years! He loves working with his friends, but even more than that, he likes to socialise with them on the weekends.

Samuel is a smart man and understands that work is just that – WORK – and the weekends are for fun and friends. The Social Club (part of the Flexi Choices program) is a great way for Samuel to meet up with his workmates outside of work to do enjoyable things together.

This year the Social Club have participated in some great events. Samuel says, ‘We have chosen some fun activities like Moomba, movies and last year we went to the Australian Sports Museum at the MCG – I really liked that one, to walk on “the G” was great.’

Once a month the Social Club meets up and heads out for the day, usually via public transport, as this assists group members to better use public transport and learn to travel around their community more independently. Group members pick events that interest them.

‘A few weeks ago, the Social Club chose to go to a Melbourne Storm game. I don’t like rugby, but other members do. I pick the events that I like,’ said Samuel. ‘But when I don’t like an event that everyone else is going to, I talk to Tina (from the Flexi Choices Team) and arrange an event just for me, doing what I want to do. I have been to the Melbourne Airport, Healesville Sanctuary, the International Garden Show and just dagged around Highpoint, window shopping and having lunch.’

The Flexi Choices team can assist you to participate in weekend events, either as part of a group or on a 1:1 basis – the choice is yours. Mambourin’s fun team of staff members are here to support you to head out to all the events that you and your mates want to attend – footy, concerts, stage shows, movies, bowling, lunches and dinners out. The Flexi Choices team is only limited by your imagination. If you have an idea, they can assist you to get out there and get it done!
