Order of Australia honour – Vernon Fettke

Earlier this year we were proud to hear that Vernon Fettke, former Mambourin board chair, was to be made an officer of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Vernon was awarded the medal for service to the community of Wyndham.

Vernon joined the Mambourin board in October 2003, was treasurer from February 2004 to November 2010, and president (chair) from November 2010 to September 2013. He was also a valuable member of both the Finance and Risk and Audit Committees.

Mambourin greatly benefitted from Vernon’s strategic vision and leadership, emphasis on quality service delivery, business development, strong desire to further develop infrastructure and operational capacity of the organisation, his people skills and communication style.

Vernon was actively involved in fundraising for the organisation and was also willing to contribute in other ways – he was always the first to sign up for a working bee requiring volunteers or to attend a function where we needed his support.

In addition to his time with Mambourin, Vernon has contributed to the Wyndham community in a wide range of activities and roles including serving as a Wyndham Rotary Club director, Wyndham Chamber of Commerce president, and Wyndham Community Foundation chairman.
