Community Spotlight: Kane

Sunshine Community Hub

Meet Kane from our Sunshine Community Hub. Kane is an active member of the Mambourin Choir and a big music fan – he has more than 300 CDs!

How long have you been at Mambourin?

15-16 years

Can you tell us about something you’ve achieved this year?

I’ve joined in the choir group this year and went out to a number of performances. I’ve even helped out in putting up lyrics to compose our song “Steven the carwash man”. But due to COVID, everything was put on hold.

What do you like about coming to Mambourin?

I like coming to Mambourin to see my friends. I like seeing Anthony, Steven, Deborah, Trent. I like talking to them, sharing jokes and working with them. I also like joining in the programs like bowling, gardening, and especially choir. I have been performing with the choir group in nursing homes and events such as disability expo. My choir group has been very versatile with the music that we perform, from 70s to 90s songs which I love a lot.

What are your goals?

My goal is to be the best that I can be. I would also love to do a solo performance one day in front of a crowd.

My other goal is to be able to calm down and control myself when circumstances occur and to be involved in more programs next year.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself?

I love music, I have a whole heap, a collection of CDs in my room. About 360 CDs. I love to eat subway sandwiches especially teriyaki chicken. Nando’s and KFC but occasionally due to my diabetes. I’m a big fan of AFL. I hope my team the Essendon Bombers will beat the Richmond Tigers next year by 98 points.

Thanks for sharing, Kane!
