Caring can become easier with the right support network, but it can be hard to know what support is available.
That’s why we’ve created Carers corner – a space where we’ll share useful resources and offers, list social events for carers in the west, and invite you to share your thoughts and questions.
Websites and resources
Carers Victoria is the statewide voice for family carers, representing and providing support to carers in Victoria. They offer a wide range of resources and information for carers, and also run regular events and support groups.
Carer Gateway is an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers.
They support carers in their caring role by providing: support groups, support packages, in-person and phone counselling and coaching, skills courses, access to emergency respite services.

We understand that navigating the NDIS can also be challenging for our parents and carers. To support you in staying across the NDIS we regularly share blog posts explaining funding types and any changes. To find these go to News Categories and select “NDIS news and updates”.

Hoyts carer concession
Hoyts cinemas are offering carers an adult ticket for $1.10 (maximum of 1 ticket per day) when accompanying the person they care for to the cinema.
All carers wishing to take up this offer must produce their state or territory Carers Association card or any other card with government-recognised carer identification, such as a Healthcare Card or Centrelink Pension Card. Visit the Carers Australia website for full Conditions of Use.
